International Summer School on Sustainable Protection of Cultural Heritage was the pilot implementation of the Module Sustainable Protection of Cultural Heritage.
Summer School was organised in Lublin on 23-28 September 2019.
Participants of the Summer School were students of Partner Universities: Politechnika Lubelska (Poland), Universida degli Studi di Firenze, Universida di Bologna (Italy), Panepistimio Ioanninon (Greece) and Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (Germany). 26 students of 1st and 2nd cycle study in fields related to cultural heritage participated in Summer School.
International Summer School in the form of intensive course on Sustainable Protection of Cultural Heritage consisted of 60 teaching hours. Theoretical classes – lectures were supplemented by practical classes – exercises. In situ survey and presentation of the best examples of heritage protection, discussions and solving real problems were also conducted.
Part of the classes within Summer School was implemented using e-learning Space of Knowledge-exchange and Educational Portal on Cultural Heritage. One subject was implemented as a block teaching with the following structure:
• advance reading using an online learning environment that can be accessed through a web browser and traditional literature sources. This part was accomplished at a distance
• intensive classroom teaching – a taught phase where all Summer School participants have direct contact with the teacher
• post-course phase – the Summer School participants individually completed the work. This part was done in the student’s home location.
Creation of Knowledge-exchange and Educational Portal on Cultural Heritage supported Summer School participants and was used as additional tool of expanding their knowledge.
Students were awarded certificates with 2 ECTS credits for completing the Summer School.
Classes within Summer School were conducted by the selected academic teachers of Partner Universities and invited practitioners specialising in various fields of heritage protection.
